Q: Any risk of putting too much on the lawn?

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! Yes, putting too much Earth Science Fast Acting Gypsum on your yard carries a real risk of throwing your soil out of whack and starving your grass of vital nutrients. A massive overdose floods the soil with calcium, which physically blocks your lawn's roots from absorbing other necessary minerals like magnesium and potassium while causing sandy soils to leach fertilizer much too quickly. To keep your yard healthy, stick to the standard maintenance rate of 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet, and only step up to heavier applications if you are treating severely compacted clay or pet urine damage.

Q: Does this product fix yard erosion

1 Answer
  • A: This product is designed to improve soil structure, not to directly control erosion. It works by loosening compacted or clay-heavy soils and enhancing water penetration, which can help promote stronger root growth. While healthier soil and improved turf establishment can indirectly help reduce erosion over time, this product does not provide immediate erosion control or stabilize soil on slopes or areas prone to washout.

Helps with poor, compacted soil

The soil is very poor where i live and very compacted. A nursery worker suggested added this to my soil when planting trees and bushes and it has made a huge difference. The trees i planted are actually growing and thriving!

This product works extremely well!

I have a section of the yard that is basically swampy all through the year. I have tried adding dirt, adding mulch, planting, and nothing would prevent the water from pooling in this area. I purchased this product with hopes that it might help. It is a miracle! The area is no longer muddy. You can actually walk in the area. I sprinkled this product around the blocks that I used as steppingstones to avoid the mud and it even dried that area up! I really wish I had taken photos as proof of how well it works.
