'Allstar' is the largest midseason strawberry with that deliciously sweet flavor! The glossy, firm fruit holds its size very well. The plants are vigorous, hardy, and easy to grow. The foliage is dense and lasts well into the winter, making excellent groundcover. Strawberry 'Allstar' is a dormant plant selected by DeGroot, offering you the opportunity to get a head start to the season! Due to its dormant state, this plant may lack foliage until it is planted. There is no need to wait until after frost; this may be planted as soon as the ground is workable. Once planted, apply 6 inches of mulch for root protection. This early planting prevents transplant shock and allows more time to develop its root system. If your plant does have foliage, protect it from frost. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 4-6 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth.Guaranteed to Grow* Product must be purchased before June 1st. Wish I read the reviews before I bought them. Many crowns look rotten. Just ordered plants from another nursery because I don’t think many of these will grow .

Don't waste your time

In the past five years I have tried planting strawberries from Tractor Supply three different times and not ONE year has any of them been alive. I keep trying thinking if I try this of that differently, it will work out. We live in the mountains in Colorado, so we have to plant later. I suspect that these plants shipped to the store and held at room temperature are coming out of dormancy too soon. They are also drying out too much. I don't know. All I can say is I have spent hundreds on dormant plants that come from big box stores and they never live. I suspect that in the heat of the store, the plant is trying to come out of dormancy, but just can't be planted soon enough. Honestly, I think the they should store them outside or keep them refrigerated. I am going to stick to live nursery plants from here on out. I should also mention that my mother often buys dormant plants through the mail and does just fine. But she lives in the upper mid-west where the spring comes sooner and where there is more humidity. Every time I get the plants out of their packages up in the mountains, the medium they are being held in is totally dried out.
