Rated 1 out of 5 by from broke Tip broke less than 3" into the first hole. Bought as a complete auger, so didn't read reviews for just the point

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Screw Point I go through about 1 per year. We get 20-30 holes. It DOES work better if sharpened regularly. It would be great if this were harder steel and maybe even carbide on the cutting edges.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought this about 3 months ago. Dug 2 post holes and worked great. Started working on another fence the other day and got to hole #5. Tip went down in the ground about 6-8 inches and stopped digging. I pulled it up and found that the tip had broke in half.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wore out after 3 holes - but that is fixable Had a few rocks about the size of baseballs. I did find that sharpening the leading edge of the bit with a grinder every couple of holes makes it work a lot better and I guess that is to be expected with cast iron only material. Is it normal for the tip to wobble around freely at the end of the shaft? And before you ask, I did check to be sure the bolts were tight. This was as installed at the factory on my Countyline 9" auger I just bought.
