I'm very pleased with this auger. The teeth on it really dig in rocky ground.

This was the hot knife I was looking for. It cuts through the Oklahoma clay/sandstone/shale in under one minute per hole.

Great auger bit for the money. This is truly a commercial grade tool.

I bought the 12” rock auger for some projects around my place on rocky ground. When I received it, the three outside teeth on either side were welded on at exactly the same level (not angled and stepped up on each tooth like the photos show.). I thought about shipping it back but read the manufacturers paperwork and it said if you don’t send in the warranty registration card within 14 days the entire warranty is void. Since I was outside the window by a few days I went ahead and tried to use the auger. The pilot bit drills straight into rock like a hot knife through butter. When the pilot bit drills down and you hit the outside rock teeth it just sits and spins and won’t drill any deeper no matter what. I took it to a local machine shop and paid to have them cut the teeth off and weld them on with the correct spacing and angle and it works like a champ now. Rips straight through limestone rock layers. Just know if you have any big rock to get through and you get one like mine was built, it’s worthless—prepare to have it redone to work.
