If its your only option

Tip of Auger only screws on (loosely), nothing to secure it on. Can only get a 26" deep hole. Waste of Money and time.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. As you may have noticed, the screw-in spiral point tightens as the auger digs, and we've actually never had a complaint about a pilot tip falling out during operation. As far as the depth goes, you should be able to get your gearbox all the way down to the ground—you may have to adjust your A-frame-to-boom connection if you can't. With the gearbox at ground level, the auger digs down to the full 36". We recommend clearing the loose dirt with a shovel or manual post hole digger, but we have dug many, many holes down to a full 36" deep with that bit.
