Q: Need 2 1/2” shaft

1 Answer
  • AI-generated, Human-approved
A: This auger is designed for a 2-inch round shaft. It is not compatible with a 2 1/2-inch shaft, and there is no adapter available to change the shaft size.

Q: Do they make an adapter to go to a inch and 5/8 shaft

1 Answer
  • A: There is no adapter available from us to reduce the auger shaft size; unfortunately, we do not make an adaptor to neck down the shaft. For a 1-5/8" shaft, you would need to source a compatible adapter elsewhere or use an auger designed specifically for that shaft size.

Q: are the countyline and countrypro augers interchangable?

1 Answer
  • A: I have no data that says the CountryPro Augurs won’t work with the County Line post hole diggers won’t work. If the connecting collar for the augur has a 2.5” inside diameter and the sheer bolt holes are the correct size and in the correct location it should work.

Q: I know a sheer bolt should be used between gear box and pto shaft but should the 1/2 bolt that attaches the auger the post hole shaft be a sheer bolt as well and what grade of bolt? Thank you.

12" auger bit is a good bit to dig it with

lololol,,,this auger 3pt and 12" bit are great pieces of equipment, the holes are clean and does very nicly in hard and rocky grounds, I have not tryed to go through our rock drive way yet that has a base of 18" or more of river rock and then about 6 to 10 inches of 1 inch minus, how ever i am planning on tryin it here in about 2 weeks to loosen so we can put in a 20' culvert for over flow.

Good auger but no replacement parts

The auger is great the reason for giving only three stars is that the Tractor supply stores in my area do not stock replacement cutting edges for this 12" auger the ones they stock do not fit so if something happens and you need to replace them you have to order them and wait for them to come in. It just doesn't make since to sell something and not stock the replacement parts for what you sell. The ones in stock I am guessing are for an older model. So order replacement cutting edges when you buy the auger they will be needed especially if there is rock were you are digging.

Digs better than a groundhog

Bought this auger bit to add a 12" capability to my 3 point auger. 12 inches is the maximum recommend size for my auger. Did 2 holes effortlessly in less than 2 minutes. This thing is a digging animal. Started to engage a rock, most of the time they pop up to the top. This one is apparently big, because it broke my shear bolt on my yoke. No big deal, plus that bolt has been in this auger for 11 years. Hundreds, if not thousands of holes later it finally failed. Definitely not the bit's fault.

Oh it works great. Grabs the soil and chews it up. Compatible with my 3-point auger and is tough. Got down deep with no problem and was right on target drilling the hole! Saved my back digging holes in hard clay soil!

Can’t beat this auger for the price!

Purchased to install piers for a new deck at our home. I was pleasantly surprised at how rugged this auger was. Running it on a John Deere 4052R. It survived the pounding we gave it as part of the area was an established driveway for years.

48" is total lenght of the auger- only bores 32"

NOT 48" BORING DEPTH, 32" IS THE BORING DEPTH. Dont expect to biy this and dig four foot holes. You'll have to buy and extension to get 4' holes. You could get possibly get 34" if you adjusted the 3pt hitch to allow the gearbox of the auger to be down in the hole a an inch or two and the driveshaft rubbing the ground. Other than that this auger works great. It's not heavy duty, it's meant for the homeowner thats going to dig holes for a deck or a polebarn, bit not for a farmer or a contractor that's going to dig hundreds or a thousand holes. You could beef it up a bit by adding some welds to the auger ribbons. Worked fine to dig 20 holes for me.

Decent for the price.

Works great but wore out after about 100 holes. Purchased new teeth and pilot bit, it worked better but not like when it was new. I would buy again for home use. Drilling pasture land in Maryland, lots of shale and clay.

Good bang for the buck

So far, so good. We purchased the 12" auger to dig holes for concrete piers. We've dug 5 so far without issues. One hole had several roots, so it took a little more effort. Several other holes started on packed gravel. We're using this on the County Line 3pt auger with a 37hp tractor.

Missing one of the four teeth

Ordered online. Auger was loaded into my truck wrapped in bubble wrap. Returned auger to the store due to one of the four teeth were missing. The carriage bolt used to fasten the tooth to the auger was missing the rounded head. Unsure of how that is possible. The manager (Kyle@west plains) said the missing part was not tractor supplies responsibility. He would not refused to replace the missing tooth with an in stock item. There were no other 12” augers in stock. His only solution was refund. He said it was my fault for buying the item with a missing tooth.

No, I do not recommend this product.
