Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding knife! After I removed the microbevel this knife is bulletproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Checks all the boxes, adaptable. I have become a knife hoarder. I own at least one knife from many manufacturers, Kabar, Esee, Tops, Gerber, Ontario, Camillus, Schrade, Condor, and PKS to name a few. Each one fell short of at least one criteria I wanted for my ideal knife. Even the sheath is a factor. The Camillus Buscrafter checks all the squares for me and can easily be modified for others' needs. A four inch blade for international use, 1095 steel for all the reasons, near center point for carving, a long sweep belly for slicing and skinning, and hand placement near the edge gives maximum control protected by an effective hand guard. A thin blade coating does not interfere with the 90 degree spine for processing tinder, throwing sparks from a ferro. rod, and it has no thumb jimping! A 3/16" thick blade is much better than 1/4" for slicing while rigidity is significant over an 1/8" blade. The linen Micarta handles are well shaped, void of a bow drill divot, and can be removed and be replaced with custom scales. The leather sheath is deep and reaches well past half of the handle and is supported by a thick welt to protect the stitching. Edge retention exceeds most by easily surviving moderate baton abuse and still cutting a feather stick. I am 63 years old, I was a Boy Scout in the mid 60's, and as a 27 year military veteran, I am also a father of four boys who loved scouting and the outdoors. My first fixed blade knife was an Estwing leather handled knife that looks like the hatchet. My folks got it for me with S&H Green Stamps (for those who remember!) I now function fully with a Camillus Bushcrafter. The knife is unmolested; but I modified the sheath with wet molding and added a leather loop for a ferro. rod. I could have added any modification the market produces, most are easily done. Features are often impossible to remove by an average consumer. Choose a well thought out quality outdoor knife and add your own Kydex, G10, or even jimping with a file if that's your style. The Camillus Bushcrafter will not cut down a 2 foot oak tree, split it into shingles, or process it into a truck load of toothpicks. A Camillus Bushcrafter is the only tool you'll need to build a fire, erect a shelter, process food, or construct a splint or stretcher. Be informed, research the internet, and I hope to see you out there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great blade and handle utility I have had my knife for several years and found I was not using it because of the sheath. So, I altered the sheath to fit my use. Now I love the total package.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a true bushcraft blade! I only gave it 3 stars because of the fact that it does not have a true Scandinavian/scandi grind that makes it a true bushcraft blade. However, it does make for a good camp/hunting, but for bushcraft and survival, it does not have the grind needed to aid with ease of sharpening in the field the way a Scandi blade is meant to. Plus the price is way too high!
