Q&As

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: Is this a ball bearing knife

1 Answer
  • A: No, it is not a ball bearing type of knife. It’s considered a one-handed opening knife with a thumb stud and liner lock type locking mechanism.

Q: Is this a good sturdy knife that will work for cutting and carving wood

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your interest in Buck Knives, we appreciate the opportunity to answer your question. The Buck Iceman is medium size folding knife, that features comfortable ergonomics due to the rubber handle inlay. In regard to cutting wood a folding knife may not be ideal for large tasks, or jobs that place stain or substantial leverage on the product. For carving wood we believe it’d be right at home, though the partial serrations may make it a little tricky as those are designed to dig in and tear fibrous material.

Can't beat it!

So, the title speaks for itself. It is not possible to beat the knife, for the price. It is pretty good overall, is is pretty comfortable and easy to acctuate. When I bought it, it was just about shaving sharp out of the box. I will say though, in the closed position, if you push the blade down hard against the back, it does contact the backspacer, it made a chip in the blade, but it was easy to fix. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars. P.S It IS a folder, but it can chop some wood decently.

The Iceman's 3.5", partially serrated clip-point blade is wicked. The handle is very comfortable. It is also thin and lightweight, so it is easy to carry.
