I bought this after my Agri-Fab 130lbs spreader finally wore completely out after about 10 years of use. Even then it was mainly just that the tires had shredded so I felt it was time to upgrade. My usage is on a 3 acre pasture to spread seed twice a year and fertilizer 3 times a year. The key to keeping these things alive is to spray them down with water after spreading fertilizer because that stuff will eat up the metal, and store it out of the elements. Pay close attention to spray and lubricate the shut off plate and mechanism underneath the hopper. This 185lbs unit is better in every way from a stronger frame to bigger tires. Assembly was easy and the instructions clear enough. You will do yourself a big favor if you use a wrench along with a socket on a drill attachment to tighten the nuts and bolts. I wanted to point out that the star gear that engages the drive plate is metal, which I was particularly glad to see because in pictures I couldn't tell if it was plastic. The hopper held a 50lbs bag of seed just fine which has a greater volume than the 50lbs bags of fertilizer I'll spread in the spring. My terrain is uneven and the wheelbase is plenty wide and never gave the slightest concern it would tip. I didn't use the hopper cover but it is still nice to have. The only thing I would change about the operation is that I wish the control handle was closer to the operator so I didn't have to reach back so far. The only complaint I have is the design of the flow control assembly. I don't understand why the control plate has slots instead of holes, there is no need for adjustment here and it will only serve to confuse people during assembly. Just slide the plate all the way to the right before tightening the bolts or else the control lever can't close the gate and it will leak product. For the most part it is a simple design which should mean little to nothing to go wrong. I am very happy with the spreader and anticipate many years of use.

Received this spreader as a Father’s Day gift. Slots on flow control mount bracket would not allow adjusting the spreader closure plate to close. Had to elongate the slots and drill an additional hole in mounting tube to get the closure plate to close properly.
