Whitetail Institute Imperial Whitetail No Plow Food Plot Seed is an annual blend that establishes quickly, grows rapidly, and is specifically designed for areas hard to access with farming equipment. Sometimes, the best spots for food plots can be the toughest places to maneuver heavy equipment. If you can get there by 4-wheeler or on foot, and the area gets 3 to 4 hours of sunlight a day, Imperial No-Plow Food Plot Seed can give you a hardy, fast-growing crop of highly nutritious and attractive forage. Whitetail No-Plow is a high-protein annual that can provide up to 9 months of attraction and nutrition for optimal deer growth and antler development, and preparation can be done with as little as hand tools.

  • No till necessary, making No Plow Food Plot Seed easy to grow anywhere
  • Includes specially selected cereal grains, clovers, rape, and radish
  • Highly attractive annual forage specifically designed for areas hard to access with farming equipment (logging roads, remote clearings, etc.)
  • Can be planted either in a fully prepared seedbed, or with minimal ground preparation sufficient to establish good seed-to-soil contact
  • Imperial Whitetail No Plow is extremely drought and cold tolerant
  • Food plot seed establishes quickly and grows rapidly
  • Whitetail No Plow tolerates as little as only 3-4 hours of broken or filtered sunlight a day

Q&As

1 - 10 of 43 Questions

Q: Can I eat the radishes that grow in the mix

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question. The radishes in this seed mix are not recommended for human consumption, as they are produced and treated for planting in wildlife food plots rather than for food use.

Q: Which of the imperial game mixes is best for spring summer

1 Answer
  • A: While Imperial No-Plow is a great choice for spring planting in hard-to-reach areas, PowerPlant and Summer Slam are the top-tier mixes specifically engineered for maximum growth during the hot summer months. These high-protein blends are designed to withstand heavy grazing and provide the critical nutrition your deer need for antler development and overall health all summer long.

Q: If I put it on the ground in an area where I can't rake it in will it still grow? There are roots and stumps and a few branches in the area.

1 Answer
  • AI-generated
A: Yes, it will still grow even without raking it in. Users have successfully broadcast the seed directly on top of the ground without any raking or soil preparation, and it germinated well. The seed can establish with minimal ground preparation as long as there's some seed-to-soil contact.

Q: Will it grow in swamps

1 Answer
  • A: The Whitetail Institute Imperial No Plow Food Plot Seed is not ideal for swamps or areas with standing water and poor drainage. It can tolerate moist soil conditions but performs best in "soils with optimal moisture" and good drainage. The blend contains components like clover and brassicas (radishes and turnips). While clover can do well in moisture-retentive soils, brassicas generally require good to well-drained soil and will not thrive in overly wet or heavy clay conditions.

Q: If you broadcast seeds, will they grow? My goal is strictly to feed the deer. I have a small field that is cut with a bush hog, but I'm unable to till because of physical limitations

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Whitetail Institute Imperial No-Plow Food Plot Seed can be broadcast without tilling, making it suitable for feeding deer in a small bush-hogged field. For best results, lightly drag or rake the seed to ensure soil contact, apply lime and fertilizer as recommended, and ensure adequate sunlight and moisture.

Q: Would it be better to water it in?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. If soil is dry, a light watering after sowing is recommended to give the seeds the best chance to germinate. If the soil is already moist, it’s fine to let nature do the work.

Website ingredient list states cereal grains. I get to the store and back of bag label states annual rye GRASS. 85%. Deer won’t touch rye grass in MS.

Planted this on 3-15-25 and went back on 3-22-25 and the clover was already up. All I did was broadcast it across the top of the ground, didn't rake or anything just broadcasted it. I was skeptical about the no plow thing but man let me tell you it will germinate on top of the ground. Great stuff and I will be getting more.
