- Vitamin K1 helps in the production of prothrombin, a protein that clots the blood
- Often administered after a pet accidentally ingests specific types of rodent pesticide
- Counters the effects of hypoprothrombinemia caused by coumarin-based compound digestion, typical commercial rodenticide ingredients and other types of drug-related hypoprothrombinemia resulting from Vitamin K metabolism interference (such as salicylates)
