Q: Is the fuel cap lockable with a paddle lock?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Neighbor! Yes. The system comes standard with locking fuel caps, which prevent unauthorized people from opening the tank to take fuel. You should also be able to use a separate steel padlock and chain to further secure the tank.

Q: How high will it pump. I need to pump gas in high wing airplane.

  • A: This will do it! I haven't put it to "the test" of pumping in an upward fashion but this pump is strong. If your pumping to an elevated aspect of greater then the hose it comes with then I may remain reserved, but if your going ten/twelve feet over this pump, I don't believe you will have any issues. If you give me your parameters of what you'll be doing, I'll run a test on mine and let you know how it goes. Skye Skye.carpenter@icloud.com

Q: I know that this product does not come with a filter, but can a filter be added if it is needed? Is using a filter recommended? Also what is the GPM rate of the pump?

1 Answer
  • A: Please see the manufacturer's response: "Transfer Flow does offer a Napa fuel filter kit that can be added to the tank – Part 020-01-13958. This filter kit runs in-line with the pump and hose. Adding a filter is entirely customer preference. Most vehicles have a filter system included; adding a filter would be additional filtration. Regarding the rate of pump – it is a 12-volt pump, rated at 15 gallons per minute." The filter can be located at https://www.transferflow.com/shop/product/0200113958.

Q: How difficult is it to install? If there is a wiring harness does that mean it transfers the fuel for you?

1 Answer
  • A: The installation of the refueling tank should take about four hours, and it should be relatively simple if you have some mechanical background. A refueling tank is a tank with a pump, hose and nozzle – a mini gas station, if you will, in the bed of your pick-up; it will not transfer fuel automatically. The wiring harness is for the on/off/purge switch that mounts in the cab of the vehicle. You will turn the pump on and off as needed. The purge switch is a safety feature – you will turn the pump off when you are done fueling and you will then ‘purge’ or reverse the pump for 10-seconds. This will move any fuel left in the hose back into your fuel tank and not leave it sitting in the hose.

Q: Will the 50 gal tank fit under a flush mount bed cover ?

1 Answer
  • A: This tank will not fit under most tonneau covers as it is too tall. It measures 21.5”(H) + 3” for fillneck. However, Our 40-gallon refueler (SKU 118339999) will fit. It measure 14.5” (H) + 3” for fillneck. We recommend double-checking the measurements of your cover.

Build quality.

It’s heavy and we’ll made. Decide ahead of time what kind of install you want to do…. i.e. is it plumbed into your vehicle’s tank, or independent? Be sure to purchase a wiring kit that can withstand corrosive exposure. This is a great tank.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Glad we got it!

This tank was really easy to install. I am a female, and while this has absolutely nothing to do with the installation of this tank, it will let those that wish to get one, that you can easily do it yourself. It has most of everything you will need, it tells you what you will need if it’s not included. It is also low profile. It can be seen but it’s nowhere near the height of most transfer tanks I have seen on work trucks. We got it because the tank on our truck is small, and pulling our camper made for so many fuel stops. We travel for work and it is sometimes cross country. I believe it will lol pay for itself in saving us a lot of aggravation and worrying about finding a station that carries diesel on those long roads that seem to be deserted.

Yes, I recommend this product.
