Q&As

Q: Can the blanket be returned if it's the wrong size?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, you can return a Tough1 Horse Turnout Blanket to Tractor Supply Company (TSC) if it is the wrong size, provided it meets the standard return requirements. To avoid the need for a return, the manufacturer recommends measuring your horse from the center of the chest, across the side, to the center of the tail. If your measurement falls between sizes, always round up to the next size for the best fit.

Q: Would this be considered a heavyweight blanket?

1 Answer
  • A: The 1200 Denier is considered to be heavy strength. This is a great blanket to be used on a single horse alone or one that is turned out with others that may pick at their blanket. Our general rule of thumb is that the 1200 D blanket with 200 grams of poly fill is recommended for temperatures as cold as 30 through 50 degrees. If using 250 grams of poly fill we recommend temperatures as cold as 15 to 30 degrees. When using 300 grams of poly fill we recommend temperatures that are as cold as <0 to 15 degrees. We hope this information has helped!

Q: I have a pudgy 27yr old high neck TWH who's weight just dropped from his withers. Is 1200D Waterproof Poly Snuggit Turnout Blanket the right one? The one he has now is sliding down his withers & pretty much strangling his neck above his breast. Thank you!

Q: One horse measured 75 and the other was 79.. I dont see an option to purchase 76 or 80.. what size do I order?

  • A: Thank you! Tough1 blankets come in 3" increments. We recommend buying the 75" and the 81". The Sunuggit neck along with the front adjustments will create the best fit possible.

Q: How do you measure your horse to find the right fit for it?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you! Please measure your horse from the center of the chest, across the rib cage and to the center of the tail. Always go up to the next size. If your horse measures 74" then a 75" blanket is what will fit best. Our blankets are designed to allow a more "custom" fit with the front buckle system and Snuggit Closure.

Nice but still has issues with staying put.

This is my second Tough-1 Turnout Blanket. The first one was awful, and I went years before making another attempt. This one seemed better however, the same day I was asked for a review I found my horse and blanket in two different areas of the field. Thankfully she was fine. Both front straps had come undone, and she apparently just walked right out of her blanket. Today I get to see if I can figure out how to fix it (this will be the second time in about two weeks).
