Great machine clears snow down to ground light weight and powerful.

Light & maneuverable. Had its first good workout today; blizzard last night left 18” plus drifts. Worked slowly through it, taking small bites of loosened wet snow. It handled my 3.5 car driveway just fine. I didn’t attempt to move through what the snow plow left at the street edge though. It used a gallon of gas in 3.5 hrs but was working consistently hard; deep wet snow. Tossed it a good 25ft !!! And did not clog once. I easily brought it up on my deck (35’x12) and cleaned that in less than 25 min. Only 3 issues; it vibrates more than I thought it should; the knobs on both handles loosened up completely & I only noticed bcayse one fell off while I was using it. The vibration also caused the choke handle to move slightly to cause rough engine — I moved choke to off position and it was fine afterwards. The odd thing is that it gives off a slight odor of fuel after I turn it off & bring it in the garage. I hope it’d not a leak; possibly odor from working so hard bring run for ~3 hrs. And one complaint — the red plastic on/off key pcs in the absolute worse position — under the choke where you can’t see it while standing behind the blower. It’s too low & you have to bend over or lift it up off the wheels & tilt forward to see the key & hole. Terrible. But, the way it clears that snow & being so EZ to move around, and superb chute operation (up/down & left/right) makes for instant EZ & accurate direction changes. I’m a happy camper !!! It’s great

The unit was damaged during shipping. Waited 7 days, got it just before a storm. Found it was unusable after unpacking. Had to shovel 12 inches of snow. I gave 4 stars because they took it back and quickly refunded my money. Some places wouldn't do that.

I can only comment on the purchase, shipping, and condition of this unit as it has not snowed since it arrived (in the sense of being a snow deterrent, much like carrying an umbrella on a cloudy day, it has worked magnificently). I had to attempt to purchase this item online multiple times because the system would not allow the transaction to complete. Turned out the CC expiration date was incorrectly entered, but was not flagged as incorrect. Once processed, though, the purchase completed. The shipment arrived on time and the UPS tracking was updated at each stop and was accurate. The box arrived in good condition, but while assembling the snowblower, I noted that the left handle arm was at a higher elevation than the right, making the handle assembly difficult and the handle ever so slightly crooked and the powder coating on the tip scratched off. It does not affect operation, so I decided not to return it. The box didn’t have any damage, so I assume it fell during final assembly or packaging. Anyway, I hope I don’t regret keeping it as is. If it ever snows (failing in it’s intended purpose as a preventative purchase), I’ll try to remember to update this review.

Great Little Machine - purchased to us on a flat rubber roof

I have been very happy with my new Toro snowblower. It has been really easy to start, clears my drive like I wanted, works just as I had expected. I had my previous Toro for 26 years and trusted the Toro name in buying a new one.

When I got it it leaked gas bad. Finley found the carburetor was not assembled incorrectly. The other issue is the exhaust blows by your feet. On a still day it comes up your body and gags you.

It’s already in the shop after being used just two times. About an hour useage total. Three bolts were not properly tightened. One is missing.

Blower was damaged. Handle could not be installed due to bent bracket. Have not been able to use until repaired.

Amazing unit. Replaces an old unit I had troubles with annually.

It works very well. We had to have the store we bought it from service it after the first time due to the handle to engage auger was put on backwards. Otherwise, we are glad to have a working snowblower with all the snow Michigan has gotten.

I replaced my 48 year old Toro paddle snowblower with this new one. The adjustable chute is a great improvement, you can direct angle and distance where you blow the snow. We had an 18" snowfall in Pittsburgh and it handled it with ease.

Bought one of these for my father-in-law to take care of small storms. His main snow blower failed during this last storm (18” of snow). Although not meant for clearing 18” of snow, I used the PowerClear 518 to clear his driveway taking smaller passes - this blower saved the day.

I have a hard time getting the snowblower in the right position to move by itself. The handle needs a way to adjust height. Also, the key is in a hard-to-reach place and so is the plug for the electric start. I miss my old pull start Toro 200.

The Toro starts easily and throws snow well. Need larger knobby tires for snow depths> 3 inches so that it is easier to push. Right now sometimes wheels/tires aren't touching ground

We bought this a few months ago.Finally, had a chance to use it. Snow was fairly light and fluffy. Unit did not "pull me through the snow". I had to tip it forward in order for it to do that. Until I discovered that fact, I was having to push. In doing so, along with the half inch or one inch "play" in the side to side movement of the rear wheels, the left rear wheel has already bent on the bar. For all of the reviews we've read, and even users of this machine that recommended it to us, i personally don't find that it stands up to it's written standards/ descriptions. I'm seriously considering a different manufacturer or better unit.Altogether.

The Power Clear 518 is easy to handle and still has plenty of power.

I've owned Toro products (snowblowers and lawnmowers) for 30 years. This model is by far the lowest quality build I've ever owned. I bet their engineers watch these reviews to show them to their accountants so they can say "told ya so". A plastic scraper? More snow hits my feet than goes through the chute. Positives: the engine and its starting mechanism are solid. But it pushes only a small amount of snow, and the scraper doesn't last. Cheap plastic wheels and wobbly assembly to the axle also causes concern. The chute arm is very low, so if you're taller than 5'3" it's a bunch of bending down to change the chute direction. If you live anywhere near real snow, don't buy this model.

Love the collapsibility feature of the shoot. Easy turn knobs at the handlebars for quick foldability. Motor starts one pull after priming. Great for trucks with tunnel covers fits perfectly under.

All the handle and chute parts are missing so I have no idea how I feel about it.

The 518 ze snow blower is a good auger style snow blower. Easy maneuverability. It is auger assisted not self propelled as advertised , which is disappointing.

Nine years ago, to the day I purchased a Toro 721 E. That machine was tuned up, given a new paddle and gifted to my son. That machine still runs like its brand new. I purchased the Toro 518 ZE as a replacement machine for my use. As I was happy with the 721, I was a bit concerned with the performance expectations of the 518. Through two Michigan snowfalls, those concerns have proven to be unwarranted. The machine works as advertised. I am very happy with the decision to gift my son the 721 and purchase the 518 as its replacement.

Great control with chute on direction and distance it throws the snow.I replaced a 48 year old Toro paddle snowblower, that's why I purchased another Toro. Reliability. Electric start model did not come with a power cord like my old one!

Finally had enough snow to use it. I bought the electric start just in case my wife needed to use it. It started on the first pull and worked great. I like the snow shute adjustment, allows you to be close to the house without blasting the house. Very pleased.

Used once for a light snow. Used a whole tank of gas in like 20 minutes. Seems excessive

Works well doesn’t damage deck starts good no issues

A very nice snowthrower. Have to get used to the self-propelled aspect of the blades. Found a couple loose nuts that were leaking a blue substance around the carburetor. Tightened said nuts and leak stopped compared to my previous snowblower to stage behemoth. This is like using a sports car.

It’s not self-propelled. But works good. so far no problems blows snow very far.
