Q: How do you refill the string hub?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, there! Thanks for your question. To replace the string on this unit #51830, remove any old string on the spool by repetitively pressing the bump button while pulling the line out equally from both sides of the trimmer. Cut a piece of string — use only 2 mm (0.080 inch) diameter monofilament string (Toro part #88611) or 2.4 mm (0.095 inch) diameter twisted monofilament string (Toro part #88202). Press and turn the knob on the string head until the arrow on the knob aligns with the arrow on the string head. Insert 1 end of the line at an angle into the LINE IN eyelet and push the line through the string head track until it comes out through the eyelet on the other side. Pull the line through the string head until the line outside the string is evenly divided on each side. Hold the string head in place with one hand, with your other hand, rotate the knob in the direction shown by the arrows (clockwise). Wind the line, leaving about 102 mm (4 inches) extending beyond the eyelet on each side. You can view more information on page 17 of the manual at: https://www.toro.com/getpub/226972. Thanks!

Q: This product appears to be great at trimming, but how well does it do at edging?

Remarkable

I bought this one to replace a cheap 20v weed eater I bought because I was getting frustrated that normal grass was slowing it down, but this one cuts like a champ. I have a smaller yard, but the battery was only at half by the time I was fully done trimming my yard and also using it as an edger! So happy I I paid for a quality weed eater!

Yes, I recommend this product.

I just used my new trimmer for the first time. I was impressed with the quality. I'm glad to be done with a gas trimmer that was hard to start.
