- A: I use these for lifting logs with my front loader. I just picked up a 2nd set of tongs specifically for that purpose. I have 2 hooks welded to the front loader of my tractor. With 2 of these tongs I won't have to spend time balancing the log perfectly. That said, I would not use them for lifting if there is anybody around or if it will damage anything if it falls and rolls. I only lift with them using my front loader and there is nobody anywhere near the log or tractor when I do it. They are not rated to lift, but it can be done if you are safe about it. This saves my lawn from lots of damage trying to skid a large log across it.5 years agoHelpful?
