    Good tongs

    I have only had the chance to use once so far but they worked really well that time. I wasn’t expecting them to be as heavy as they were but that’s a good thing I had an older set of tongs that my dad and uncle and myself used when I was a kid that were not as big or heavy as these and I was excited using the tools that we used back then but then I tried pulling a big log with my old tongs and broke them which saddened me but I will fix them back for a keepsake. At this point I would buy these tongs again if needed another set of tongs. Only 4 stars because I never give the highest rating because no one or anything is perfect

    Grapple is great

    This grapple is great! The spring is stiff and the pointy ends really dig into the wood. I use them on the end of a backhoe and lifts large trees with ease. The spring allows me to place the grapple by myself, which is a must for me. I would definitely recommend them for anyone needing to move logs.

    Time saver with a tractor!

    I have 2 sets of these and love them. Springs were a little stiff to start with, but after a few days of using them, they are now a little loose. Still enough to keep them in place on logs that they actually fit. So much faster to hook up to a log and skid out. One word of caution with the removable tip. I would recommend tack welding the back of the tip to the washer. Otherwise the clip ring can pop off and you can loose the tip, clip, and washer under a log somewhere. Luckily mine fell of laying in the truck bed. 5 min on the welder and both sets were fixed. Easy enough to knock the tack welds off with a grinder should I ever need to replace them.

    I bought this to help me speed up the log skidding for firewood, We have heated our log home with wood for 39 years. I skid out my own logs, split them myself and have developed a good system over the years. Have only purchased 5 tanks of fuel oil, I thought the log tongs would save me getting on and off the Kubota tractor and I rigged up a 3pt hoist that worked well. I skidded out two, 12in maples and the tongs worked great, However, one side bent 3inches out of alignment. These tongs are not tempered and are just mild steel. Tractor Supply needs to find another vendor as these tongs are junk and are not the quality that I expect from them, I believe the metal is 7/8 or 1 in thick but tapers down by the pivot and that is where mine bent. Highly dissatisfied, I plan to discuss this with the manager of my local store in Troy, NY.
