For ponds up to 1000 gal. The world's most energy-efficient pond heater. Thermo-Pond is a unique pond heater that keeps a hole through the ice in backyard ponds for just pennies a day. In fact, Thermo-Pond can save up to $30.00 a month in electricity VS. those high wattage stock tank style deicers. Just think, Thermo-Pond pays for itself in as little as 2 months. Thermo-Pond floats on top of the water and is thermostatically controlled to never get hot. Unlike some other heaters, Thermo-Pond will never burn a pond liner or plastic pond. It naturally allows the pond to ice over while maintaining a hole through the ice. Allowing that gas exchange can help keep a healthier environment during the winter months Thermo-Pond should be used in ponds that are deep enough to allow plenty of livable water under the iced portion of the pond. MET safety listed. One year limited warranty.

Q: Will this work with ducks swimming near it

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, Thank you for your question. Animals moving past it should not affect the performance of the heater but please note this heater is designed to keep a small hole in the ice. It will not prevent the entire pond from freezing so under certain temperatures the ducks will not have much area to swim depending on the size of your pond.

Q: How much heat does this heater put out? I realize it keeps the pond from freezing so I’m looking for a more helpful answer than what’s already posted.  There has to be some sort of known heat output (in degrees) which I think some of us want to know.

  • A: We can not answer this question in any more detail than what is on the websites. This product has a patient on it and the details are under “trade secret”. This data is not disclosed to us or the public. The out put is 100watts and enough heat to keep the water around the unit from freezing, this is in no way a heater for the water and will not put out that much heat.

Q: I live in Florida. I need it to Keep my pond at at least 70 degrees. It for my turtle. It’s a 165 gallons. Will this heater work? Or what do you have that will.

1 Answer
  • A: These “heaters” are just de-icers. These pond de-icers keep fish alive and healthy all winter long. By maintaining a hole in the pond ice, K&H de-icers facilitate the gas exchange pond fish require.

Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that the new deicer worked well to keep the opening in your pond during the cold snap. It's always a relief when the right product steps in to prevent freezing. We hope it continues to work great for you and your pond through the rest of the winter!

great heater for a small pond

Last year was my first year with a small pond with a few fish. During the super cold days, the metal heater I purchased constantly had to be restarted and had a lot of corrosion to periodically be cleaned off. Not fun in winter. I have been using this Thermo-Pond Heater for about a month since the night temps dipped into the teens and 20s. When I first got it I was skeptical because it was so lightweight, but it is WONDERFUL. It had kept a nice size hole open in the pond and seems to be managing the cold temperatures just fine.
