Q: Are you able to connect additional fence to this without getting an additional charger?

1 Answer
  • A: The S400 is powerful enough to charge two full-length poultry nets in most conditions. A stronger charger may be required when dealing with abundant vegetation along the anticipated fence line, or if the soil is excessively dry. Connecting an additional grounding rod is also a good decision when increasing the length of any electric fencing.

Very easy to set up, sturdy poles with strong foot petals to push them into the ground, perfect height. With proper tension at the bottom and a slight angle at the top, you can insert the poles in such a way that they keep all the sag out of the net and you don't even have to stake the poles. We clip the wings so they can't fly over. It's high enough to keep larger predators from jumping over yet low enough and flexible enough to be able to step over it (turn it off first though!). The net holes get progressively bigger as it goes higher but small birds can still slip out if they time it right or if you have it turned off. Mine have discovered they can make a break for it when i turn it off to come in and feed them. I love that the solar charger has a removable battery for charging during times of prolonged low light or for initial charge. The on/off switch is super convenient. The lights on the tester aren't great. I can barely see them during the day and have to cup my hands over it, which puts the top of my head closer to the net than I'd like it to be. The clips that attach the end ropes together are flimsy and ineffective. I bought this because one of our dogs got 2 of our babies and foxes were starting to come around regularly. This fence packs quite a punch so I feel pretty comfortable leaving my birds unattended. It also looks nice and unobtrusive, which is important to me. The set up instructions weren't great but there's really only one way to set it up. Still, I would have liked a few more details like how long to charge the battery for its initial charge. Maybe I just missed that part. Also, the setup video was very helpful.

Kit came without all needed parts

Our kit came without the grounding rod so for over two weeks now, we’ve been waiting to use our new fence. Which also means we’ve not been able to rotate our sheep to another pasture either. The tractor supply folks have been nice enough when I’ve called, twice now. But this does not change the fact that we have a $500 fence kit that is just sitting.

Only worked for a couple months

Worked really well for a couple months, then stopped working all together. Now it doesn’t even charge or shock at all anymore and I can’t find if there’s any sort of warranty. Highly do NOT recommend for the price.
