The SportDOG Brand FieldTrainer 425XS is our smallest and lightest e-collar built for in-the-field training or hunting with close working dogs. This S' model was built for high-drive, more stubborn dogs by offering a higher static stimulation range than the SD-425X. Consistency and perfect timing are critical to developing your sporting dog, so the remote is quickly and easily operated without having to look at it - which lets you focus on your dog and not your equipment. With only a slight movement of the dial and the push of a button, you will be able to deliver a tone, vibration, or one of the 21 levels of static stimulation. Use these stimulation types to communicate with up to 3 dogs (with purchase of Add-A-Dog collars) out to 500 yards with any of the 425 models.

- A: Thanks for asking about this, Jack. This remote trainer could absolutely be a great fit for your shepherd. It's recommended for dogs 8 lbs. and up, with no upper weight limit. Response to correction collars will depend on your dog's individual personality rather than on size or breed, so we would always recommend starting on the lowest level and going up only if your dog fully disregards the lower levels.10 months agoHelpful?

Gets His Attention!

I bought one of these since I have an underground containment system at home and I've seen how it get my young Lab's attention. We often go to a park on a river where quite a few people bring their dogs to run, play and swim. The dogs often start running and become not very mindful. I just "Beep" him and he stops and listens. I have it set to beep on one button, "nick" (quick shock) on another and steady shock on the 3rd. Rarely any more than a beep is needed.
The collar is waterproof and I haven't had any problems and he swims on and off all day. It charges (and the handheld unit) like a cell phone and lasts all day.
The handheld has a knob that has 8 settings that determine the strength of the shock. You can leave it kinda low and crank it up immediately if needed.

Doesn’t work consistently..

When this product works it works well however most of the time it doesn’t work at all. As soon as I take it off charge I’ll put it on my dog and it may work once or twice then it’ll skip a couple times then it’ll work. Tried the troubleshooting fixes.. trimming hair slightly.. making sure it’s charged and the lights are working.. sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t.. we have owned one of these previously and never had a problem however this one is a dud.

Horrible charge

Truly upsetting! Just purchased this collar yesterday. My Great Dane responds to it but unfortunately does not stay charged. Then when I do charge it it’s flashing like it’s already charged. First collar I have found that he responds to but unfortunately doesn’t last five minutes. Truly upsetting for the price I paid.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Poor battery/charge life

Had the same sport dog collar and it lasted about 8 yrs and the battery life lasted approx 12-16 hrs on a charge! My new one i have had for a month and the battery life is only lasting 6-8 hours! Not sure whats going on, but very disappointed!
