The SportDOG FieldTrainer Remote Dog Training Collar is our smallest and lightest e-collar built for in-the-field training or hunting with close working dogs. Consistency and perfect timing are critical to developing your sporting dog, so the remote is quickly and easily operated without having to look at it - which lets you focus on your dog and not your equipment. with only a slight movement of the dial and the push of a button, you will be able to deliver a tone, vibration, or one of the 21 levels of static stimulation. Use these stimulation types to communicate with up to 3 dogs (with purchase of Add-A-Dog collars) out to 500 yd. with any of the 425 models. It's recommended for dogs 8 lb. or larger with neck sizes 5 in. - 22 in.

Q: Do these training collars come with a "dummy" collar that feels &looks like the correction collar without the capability of the real thing? Our last collar came with this feature and after a few corrections the dummy was all that was needed.

- A: Thanks for your question! You can indeed set both handhelds to activate the same receiver collar. In order to do this, you would need to manually change the ID codes on both of the handhelds so that they match, then pair the receiver collar to either one of them, which would effectively make both handhelds paired to that same collar. This is a fairly simple process and is described on page 14 or 15 (depending on the revision of the manual you have) of your Operating Guide as the step named "Change ID Codes".9 years agoHelpful?
Q: how large of a dog will this collar work with? my 6 month old Black Russian Terrier is about 85 lbs now and will get to 150+. A very powerful working class dog. Not a Terrier.

It works well for dogs of all sizes, and the level of static that works for a dog depends more on his personality and temperament than his size. Please ensure that your Russian Black Terrier understands basic commands such as sit, stay, and lay down before the trainer is used. No need to shock

This is our second Sport Dog Collar, last was for a German Sheppard that after passing never thought we’d start again, hence the second collar. With the Shepard and now retriever it started with a beep and then shock when new to using it. Both got used to only listening for a beep. This has allowed for off leash walking and immediate call back with just the a sound. I’ve also put it on before… it’s not really a shock per se, more a buzz sensation, in case you’re curious.

It’s an excellent product. Just don’t send me 10 emails a week afterwards! I don’t see the brand having massive competition so you’re good👍. I’m happy with the service. I’m happy with the product just please stop with the emails. Makes you look a bit desperate like everybody else looking for a review. The product is good that’s all that matters.

It is important to mention that this button does need to be pressed very firmly. We would recommend using the metal tine on your collar or the tip of a ballpoint pen, and pressing very firmly until you feel a mechanical click and the light comes on solid on the front of the remote. If you press very firmly and still don't feel that mechanical click, please have your remote and a clear picture or screenshot of your order record or with you and reach out to our live support team here-
