Like other tools I have from Grizzly, this puppy is a beast. Set up was minimal- took maybe a half hour to get it where I wanted it. I like the way the fence is designed- so much smoother than my old craftsman jointer. The machining on the infeed/outfee table is nice and I really like the control layout. My only gripe is the placement of the handle to rotate the fence for an angled cut. It gets in the way, so i removed it. Most of the time the fence stays at 90 degrees, so i don't really need it. The spring on the blade cover could be a bit heavier too. All in all, very happy with the jointer. It's just another nice machine from Grizzly.

Almost dead perfect right out of the crate!!

I was really in need of an upgrade from my desktop 6” WEN jointer and several brands were on the table including JET and Laguna with a helical head. This Southbend jointer really is a ton of bang for your buck and was dang near perfect straight out of the crate. The included Wixie digital gauge is a nice touch but I am honestly not sure how much I will use it. I also can’t believe how much of a sound improvement there is with the helical head too!! This thing is going to be a beast in my shop.

Worth It!

This is an awesome piece of equipment. Arrived in packaging with zero damage. All tolerances were perfect right from the start and I was able to be up and running in 45 minutes after minor assembly items. Fit and finish (especially the paint) is perfect. The safety knee stop is awesome as is the digital depth guage. The lifting bars made install in my shop a breeze with lifting straps and a hoist. Grizzly has come a long way with their quality from the equipment (which I still have) purchased in the 1990's. I would totally recommend this unit.
