Sentinel Spectrum is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease, the prevention and control of flea populations, and the treatment and control of adult roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and tapeworm infections in dogs and puppies weighing two pounds or more and six weeks of age or older. They also sterilize adult fleas and prevent eggs from hatching, which protects against future flea infestations.How it Works
One active ingredient of Sentinel Spectrum, milbemycin oxime:
- Is a macrocyclic anthelmintic, thought to work by impeding invertebrate neurotransmission
- Kills heartworm larvae in the tissue stage
- Eliminates hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum) in the adult stage
- Eradicates whipworm (Trichuris vulpis), roundworm (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina), and hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum) infestations, as long as the medication is orally administered following the recommended dosage schedule.
Special Precautions
- Safe use in puppies under 11 weeks old or in nursing or pregnant dogs has not been proven.
- A short-term shock-like reaction may occur if an adult heartworm-infected animal (therefore experiencing circulating microfilariae) is dosed with Sentinel Spectrum. To prevent this from occurring, an adult heartworm test should be performed before starting this medication. If the dog is found to have adult heartworms, they should be appropriately treated before starting on Sentinel Spectrum.

Side Effects
The following side effects have been known to occur:
- Weakness
- Hypersalivation (drooling)
- Convulsions
- Ataxia (impaired coordination)
- Skin congestion
- Anorexia
- Diarrhea
- Urticaria (hives)
- Pruritus (itching)
- Lethargy
- Depression
- Vomiting
Store dry at room temperature: 59°-77°F (15-25°C).

Over 100 lb. Dogs (Per Chew): Administer the appropriate combination of chewables.
To ensure adequate absorption, always administer SENTINEL SPECTRUM Chews to dogs immediately after or in conjunction with a normal meal.
SENTINEL SPECTRUM Chews control flea populations by breaking the flea lifecycle in both the egg and larval stages.
It is important to treat all dogs and cats in the household for fleas.
SENTINEL SPECTRUM Chews must be administered monthly for at least 6 months after exposure to mosquitos.
Precautions: Treatment with fewer than 6 monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitos may not provide complete heartworm prevention. The safety of SENTINEL SPECTRUM Chews has not been evaluated in dogs used for breeding or in lactating females.

Dosage
SENTINEL SPECTRUM should be administered according to the following schedule. Weigh your dog prior to administration to ensure proper dosage. Do not administer to dogs under 2 pounds.
97% of dogs will take the tasty chews straight from the hand. Otherwise, the dose can be added to a small meal or placed directly in the mouth, similar to tablet dosing.
