Q&As

1 - 10 of 29 Questions

Q: What spray gun is needed?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi! No specific spray gun is needed. However please be sure to read and follow all sprayer manufacturer’s safety and operating instructions before using. Remember do not thin the coating to improve spray performance. Adjust the various control options on the sprayer to achieve preferred spray performance. Stir coating thoroughly before pouring into the container. Rust-Oleum Truck Bed Coating is a thicker coating so it is recommended that you start with the highest material flow setting and then gradually decrease the flow to suit your particular spraying needs. Before spraying your object, apply the spray pattern to a test surface. Clean tools and equipment with Acetone immediately after use. Clean dried product with Acetone. Clean up overspray, drips, or spatters with Acetone IMMEDIATELY as dried product is very difficult to remove. Properly dispose of all soiled rags and protect unused product from freezing.

Maybe I got a bad batch

I mixed this extremely well and I found it to cover very thinly. Taking several coats just to cover. Iron Armor brand bed liner was a much better product offered by harbor freight for well below half the price. Unfortunately it's on clearance everywhere so it's probably not going to be sold anymore. Even harbor freight is switching to Rust-Oleum

No, I do not recommend this product.

We appreciate you reaching out, Brent. Each gallon of Rust-Oleum Automotive Truck Bed Coating has a recommended coverage of 70-80 square feet with the recommended two coats. When applied as directed, each coat should have a mil thickness of 2.5-4 once dry. If needing further assistance, please give us a call at 866-585-8430.
