This will alter the formulation of the paint which can hinder the performance and curing of the paint. To create a custom color we recommend mixing multiple colors of the Farm & Implement Paint. Definitely use hardener

Unless you have a month to deal with this project or time to spray five or six thin coats over a few days definitely use a hardener, I called rustoleum they said no do not need it , but I'm in southern Arizona where it's crazy hot and no humidity and it is taking a LONG time for this to cure and get hard, you will find several references on the Internet about using a hardener with this because it takes so long and if I had it to do over again would definitely do that , I do wonder if the majik implement paint is better, it has a hardener to use with it and lots of people use majik hardener with rustoleum
