Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I have purchased a Red Lion pump previous to purchasing this one. My original Red Lion has held up to near daily use for the last 4 years..and still kicking. I needed another light weight pump and made the purchase on this unit a month ago. Could not be happier so far. Lastly, I will mention the ease of sourcing replacement parts. My guys are hard on our equipment. A couple of years ago a pump was dropped out of a truck bed and broke the housing on the pump case. Sourcing replacement parts on their website is a breeze. This is the most important thing for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable after first year I purchased this pump at the beginning of 2017 and used it through July of this year without any problems. It pumped pond water for me 300 feet, 200 ft of 1-1/2 firehose and 100ft of 3/4 garden hose, with plenty of pressure to spare, enough to operate an impact sprinkler. I now am planning to use it for pumping water to animals. I only once had a problem with it priming. As I tinkered with the connections, I noticed my suction pipe had come a little loose at the connection to the pump. Just a quick tightening, and it was roaring away like usual. Good pump for the price. It sits nicely on a fourwheeler too.

Just purchased the 2.4 hp red lion pump to fill a pond and irrigate a garden, the water source is about 100 ft from pump .Bo I need to fill in coming pipe before starting pump?

Asked by: Mikepannell13
Thank you for your question regarding Red Lion transfer pumps. You will need to prime the pump before use by filling the suction side of the pipe with water. Be sure to add a foot valve or check valve at the end of the pipe in the water. For more information please don't hesitate to call me at Red Lion Tech support at 888-956-0000.

I'm loosing prime somehow. Pump runs great but it just won't pump water out of well. Well is 30-50' deep and about 8-10' down to surface. What is proper way to prime pump because I'm doing what instructions say to do. Suggestions before I return pump?

Asked by: BD72
If the pump is losing prime try checking the distance to water. It should be less than 20' vertical. Check your suction pipe for leaks or air pockets. It may also take a minute or two to prime if the water is near the maximum distance. There is a built in check valve but the pump will still need to self prime the suction hose. If you still have trouble please contact our tech team hotline at 888-956-0000. They should be able to walk you through any required troubleshooting.

I am searching for a pump that I can use for spraying chemicals. If I hard pipe a small return back into the suction can I use intermittently with spray nozzle?

Asked by: daledem
Thank you for your question about Red Lion Engine powered Pumps. Aluminum pumps are designed to pump water and will not last long spraying chemicals. For chemicals you will want to try a Poly Pump with a plastic impeller. For more information and pump sizing please contact our tech support tem at 888-956-0000.

1. Can it pull water horizontally about 300 feet from the source and disperse it horizontally about 200 feet? I would reduce pipe size on inflow and outflow to 3/4 inch. 2. Problems with pressure to maintain it in a water hose for a drip line?

Asked by: Sandy Loam Gardens
Thank you for your question about Red Lion Engine Driven pumping systems. This pump is capable of pulling water horizontally 300 feet as long as there is no appreciable elevation change. Dispersal of 200 feet is within the capabilities of the pump. Anytime the suction pipe is longer than 50’ it should be increased to the next size up. Pressure from the pump will be constant and work in your 3/4" garden hose drip line. Feel free to call our tech support for more information. 888-956-0000.

In the details it specifies 3960 GPH which equates to around 66 GMP yet in one of the answered questions you say it will only pump about 25 GPM so i'm confused to how many gallons per minute it will actually pump through a one inch line.

Asked by: Chad27
Thank you for your question regarding Red Lion Engine Powered Transfer Pumps. The 2RLAG-2L will pump up to 60GPM or 3,600 GPH through a 1.5 inch discharge. Factors can affect the volume such as discharge pipe size or distance from water on suction side. Please contact our tech support team at 888-956-0000 for additional sizing information.

I am wondering if this pump would be suitable for onsite landscape watering out of a 200 gallon water storage tank using a garden hose with a trigger sprayer.

Asked by: FV Cortina Corp
It will work but we want to avoid deadheading for long periods of time. Deadheading is when you shut off the discharge flow while the pump is running. You can do it for short periods but no more than a minute or two. Also keep in mind that the pump is designed for flow and not pressure. You will get about 30PSI from this pump and 60GPM. It will not have as much pressure as you get from a household sprayer.
