Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little water pump We were victims of the 2019 flood in Nebraska. Our basement was full of water up to the rafters when we were allowed back in to our home. We started to pump out the water for a 1/2 a day, when we got up the next morning it looked like the water level in our basement had risen over night. We pumped water out all day long & found out that something in the basement had hit the water meter & broke the incoming water line. we shut it off & finished pumping out the basement. I gave this little pump 5 stars because it not only pumped out the flood water in our basement but also pumped out the city water that was coming in to the basement because of a broken water line.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great pump until you need a new carburetor I only used pump 3 or 4 times in 4+ years and left gas in the gas tank for many months and now carb is plugged and cannot supply fuel to the carb bowl! I cant find a replacement carb anywhere so right now the pump is useless!
Date published: 2019-03-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meets my needs Adequate for occasional use. Capacity. pressure and flow rate will give modest flow to a inch and a half hose and nozzle at 200 ft length. Size and weight of pump unit give good portability. Pump casing thickness is light duty. MUST disconnec suction hose before moving pump each time or risk casing fracture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portable pump I needed a portable pump to spray a large area quickly and this pump was perfect! An easy start, quick prime of the pump and I was spraying trees. Very happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful little pump!! I bought this pump to transfer clean water from my 525 gallon transfer tank to my 2500 gallon water storage tank on my ranch. I was surprised at how easily the engine starts up and how quickly it pumps the water. It is small and light weight, so it is easy to move around. I feel like I got a great deal on this small and powerful pump.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pump for the money Starts very quickly and will probably pump 60-65 gallons a minute. Had to play with the carb a little. Adjusted the RPM then it worked perfect. Make sure you prime it before starting and it will pump just like they said.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little pump I bought for the company I work for to dewater basements and excavated holes. It works great. This pump is not a super capacity but gets the job done.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's an okay water pump I like it for the money. Off-grid user. Has a throttle so I can run at a speed good for watering my garden without using a lot of fuel or making too much noise. The handle bends down if pressure is applied but does lift the pump as it should. It doesn't "feel" expensive, but it's doing what it should.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I have purchased a Red Lion pump previous to purchasing this one. My original Red Lion has held up to near daily use for the last 4 years..and still kicking. I needed another light weight pump and made the purchase on this unit a month ago. Could not be happier so far. Lastly, I will mention the ease of sourcing replacement parts. My guys are hard on our equipment. A couple of years ago a pump was dropped out of a truck bed and broke the housing on the pump case. Sourcing replacement parts on their website is a breeze. This is the most important thing for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable after first year I purchased this pump at the beginning of 2017 and used it through July of this year without any problems. It pumped pond water for me 300 feet, 200 ft of 1-1/2 firehose and 100ft of 3/4 garden hose, with plenty of pressure to spare, enough to operate an impact sprinkler. I now am planning to use it for pumping water to animals. I only once had a problem with it priming. As I tinkered with the connections, I noticed my suction pipe had come a little loose at the connection to the pump. Just a quick tightening, and it was roaring away like usual. Good pump for the price. It sits nicely on a fourwheeler too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pump Bought this pump last week.It started on the third pull and ran for one hour on a tank. Now on tank ten and it starts on the third pull every time.Great little pump.Just follow the directions, very simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Pump! I researched this pump for a while and finally bought it. It is almost an exact copy of the one at harbor freight tools. This one has a better handle and comes with reducers to use smaller hoses. Which can justify the extra money. It started on the 4th pull. I used it to pump a foundation and it works great. It never lost suction during the job but it was the first use. I would recommend it. I didnt have any negative experiences of the other reviews. Only thing I would change is that the engine noise is a little loud. Not the exhaust but the mechanics when the engine turns.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from save your money I bought this pump earlier today and I am extremely disappointed. After getting everything set up and primed the engine struggled to idle. Finally after the motor got up to speed, the pump couldnt hold the prime for more then 5 minutes, so you had to start all over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Well I have had this pump for small scale commercial growing for about 2 years now. It seemed spotty for the first month or so and the pull start handle broke (not the best design). Other than that I have had no problems with this unit. It sits in some harsh conditions and is still going strong.
Date published: 2016-06-18
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product design There are parts on the gas tank that dissolve over time and ruin the tank and carburetor. While the cost is about 1/2 that of a pump with a Honda enigne, this one is a total waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great small water pump Bought a few days ago, works like a charm. Put in some 10w30 and some gas, prime it and off you go. Someone wrote there was not a throttle, but mine does, so they must be carrying the new model, idles down smooth

Just purchased the 2.4 hp red lion pump to fill a pond and irrigate a garden, the water source is about 100 ft from pump .Bo I need to fill in coming pipe before starting pump?

Asked by: Mikepannell13
Thank you for your question regarding Red Lion transfer pumps. You will need to prime the pump before use by filling the suction side of the pipe with water. Be sure to add a foot valve or check valve at the end of the pipe in the water. For more information please don't hesitate to call me at Red Lion Tech support at 888-956-0000.

I'm loosing prime somehow. Pump runs great but it just won't pump water out of well. Well is 30-50' deep and about 8-10' down to surface. What is proper way to prime pump because I'm doing what instructions say to do. Suggestions before I return pump?

Asked by: BD72
If the pump is losing prime try checking the distance to water. It should be less than 20' vertical. Check your suction pipe for leaks or air pockets. It may also take a minute or two to prime if the water is near the maximum distance. There is a built in check valve but the pump will still need to self prime the suction hose. If you still have trouble please contact our tech team hotline at 888-956-0000. They should be able to walk you through any required troubleshooting.

I am searching for a pump that I can use for spraying chemicals. If I hard pipe a small return back into the suction can I use intermittently with spray nozzle?

Asked by: daledem
Thank you for your question about Red Lion Engine powered Pumps. Aluminum pumps are designed to pump water and will not last long spraying chemicals. For chemicals you will want to try a Poly Pump with a plastic impeller. For more information and pump sizing please contact our tech support tem at 888-956-0000.

1. Can it pull water horizontally about 300 feet from the source and disperse it horizontally about 200 feet? I would reduce pipe size on inflow and outflow to 3/4 inch. 2. Problems with pressure to maintain it in a water hose for a drip line?

Asked by: Sandy Loam Gardens
Thank you for your question about Red Lion Engine Driven pumping systems. This pump is capable of pulling water horizontally 300 feet as long as there is no appreciable elevation change. Dispersal of 200 feet is within the capabilities of the pump. Anytime the suction pipe is longer than 50’ it should be increased to the next size up. Pressure from the pump will be constant and work in your 3/4" garden hose drip line. Feel free to call our tech support for more information. 888-956-0000.

In the details it specifies 3960 GPH which equates to around 66 GMP yet in one of the answered questions you say it will only pump about 25 GPM so i'm confused to how many gallons per minute it will actually pump through a one inch line.

Asked by: Chad27
Thank you for your question regarding Red Lion Engine Powered Transfer Pumps. The 2RLAG-2L will pump up to 60GPM or 3,600 GPH through a 1.5 inch discharge. Factors can affect the volume such as discharge pipe size or distance from water on suction side. Please contact our tech support team at 888-956-0000 for additional sizing information.
