Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable, long lasting "clean water" pump I have owned this pump for many years (8-10) and branded under Shur-Dry. Recently, I let a neighbor borrow it and it was used to pump very dirty, mud and debris filled water for several days. After which it would not successfully prime and pump (I took it partially apart to confirm it was cleared out from debris, but think it just took too much of a beating from the dirty water and probably from running dry to for too long). So I asked my other neighbor about his (which is the CountryLine branded pump), which he has had for 5-6 years. He replied that his is still working great and has posed no problems at all. So, I replaced mine with another same (but now under the CountryLine label) with no worries that it too will perform for a very long time, running clean (lake) water for my sprinklers. These pumps have enough power to run two sprinklers off of (of course depending on the height you are pulling water from and the elevation you are pumping to). For me, I am pumping water out of my lake with the inlet roughly 4 feet below the pump. Typically, my elevation to the sprinklers is in the range of just a few feet up to about 10-12 feet. If you want to avoid having to prime this pump each time you turn it on (as long as it stays installed at the water's edge, etc. . . per my practices), a check valve can be installed at the inlet line, allowing the pump to be started each day or every few days without the need to prime it each time. I recommend this pump, the price is very reasonable, it works well and lasts a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good pump at reasonable price. I needed a pump to transfer water from my holding tank. This pump was very simple to set up and really moves the water! It's best suited for a continuously running situation, like a sprinkler system. I am pleased with it.

Do these need to be primed with every use? I'm looking to install pump on wall, extending 3' up from lake level, connect a hose and water the lawn, Max distance 75'

Asked by: Bob7733
There should be a foot valve on the end of the pipe in the water, so that when you prime the first time, the water does not go back into the lake. After the first time priming, you should be able to start the pump up every time and have water out of your hose.
