* This is the recommended minimum amount of hay to be fed. If feeding more hay, reduce the feeding rate of Smart Edge(R) Horse Feed by 1.0 lb for every additional 2.0 lbs of hay fed.

** Do not feed less than 0.3 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight per day. If your horse gains too much weight at that minimum feeding rate, then you should replace Smart Edge(R) Horse Feed with Purina(R) Enrich Plus(R) Ration Balancing Feed. If changing to Purina(R) Smart Edge(R) Horse Feed:

1. Make the feed change gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days.

2. Mix the new feed with the old, gradually increasing the amount of the new feed while decreasing an equal amount of the old.

3. Changes in the rate of feeding should not exceed 1.0 lb per day for each horse

After trying just about every type of feed, and numerous "weight gain" supplements for my aged gelding, this feed finally put some healthy weight on him! (I was literally at my wit's end!) I also feed it to my "teen" horses, to maintain their weight. And, happily, I've been able to cut down at least a quarter of the amount of feed I had been giving them. My "old guy" is looking better than he's looked in quite a while! The price is not bad, either. It a win/win for all of us!

Not all as it seems

Sugar content was higher than expected. My horse was recovering from laminitis, this product was advertised as controlled sugar and starch. Well, it wasnt as controlled as the other brand i used for my mare. Purina, set her back within 2 days. Since removing her from this fed, shes recovering. I would not recommend this brand for horses with laminitis.

I had a reward for $5 Off Purina Smart Edge Equine Product at TSC. It should have been applied when i checked out. I did not look like it had been applied. i tried to call the customer service number but no one was available. i opted to receive a call back but have yet to be contacted.
