Q: I have an 18-20 yr old mare. She doesn't carry her weight very high for a 15-hand horse. I have had her on Omolene 100. I would like to see a little more weight and a little more shine. Would it be okay to change over to Omolene 400 with out much problem

Q: Hello. I was wondering if I fed this to my horse who currently only eats complete feeds without hay, would he be able to eat pasture as well? Or would he be okay only on the Purina Omolene? If so, how often should he be out in the pasture? Thank you

- A: Thanks for choosing Purina. The Omolene 400 may be fed as the sole diet to replace all roughage, Or, it may be fed along with hay/pasture at a reduced rate. Here are the minimal feeding rates: Omolene® 400 Horse Feed contains high-quality roughage and can be fed without hay. If fed with hay, the feeding rates of Omolene® 400 Horse Feed can be reduced. To meet nutrient requirements, do not feed less than 0.6 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight per day (6 lbs per 1000-lb horse) of Omolene® 400 Horse Feed. My review of Omolene 400

I have 2 senior geldings almost 30 years old. I added this to their feed before the price jumped sky high and when it was easily available. Now I can't find it. And if I do it's too expensive. But it sure put weight and beautiful coats on those 2 old horses. It's an excellent protein and healthy fat source for older horses especially if you want to add a safe sweet feed to their diet .
