The Purina Flock Block Poultry Supplement is a treat for laying hens and mixed poultry flocks. Made with whole grains, the chicken supplement block provides nutrients and enrichment no matter the season. In the summer, this chicken supplement encourages natural pecking behavior. In colder weather, it's a useful boredom buster, giving birds a place to peck besides each other. This mixed-flock treat complements complete feeds of laying chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. This flock block contains oyster shell and grit to aid in shell quality and feed digestion.

- A: The manufacture has a suggested shelf life of 6 months on the Flock Block. Storage is key, should be stored in cool, dry conditions. This can extend the life of the block. A production date code is stamped on the wrapper, usually in the upper right hand corner.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: I would like something for the hens to do when they are stuck in the run and can’t free range due to below zero temperatures. Can I leave it there until it’s gone? I have 20 chickens. Is one enough? How can I make it more interactive for them?

- A: Hi! Per the vendor: This is exactly what the Flock Block is for. You can leave it out there until it is gone. Keep it dry. If it gets wet, it will break down faster. Id recommend putting in a shallow pan or a plastic tote lid to catch the pieces as the birds pull them off. Makes it a little easier for birds to find broken pieces instead of searching through the dirt. One block should last several days if not a week. Really depends on many factors. If the birds lose interest, you can remove it or cover it for a little while and then return it to them. It will gain their interest again. Not sure how else you make it interactive. I wouldn’t recommend hanging it from something, if it falls or breaks apart in pieces that could be bad for the chickens if it lands on somebody.3 years agoHelpful?

Chickens love it

Chickens love it, but it gets nasty if it gets rained on. I don’t like to keep it out so we don’t attract rodents at night. For that reason, it’s a bit of a pain to deal with.
