The Power Wizard Electric Fence Controller is made for use with permanent or semi-permanent fencing. The fence controller is capable of powering up to 1 acre or 2 miles to surround small areas. Q: Is the length of the wire a factor? We have a short piece of fence about 20 feet long that our dogs keep digging under. But that means only 20 feet of wire, so low electrical resistance. so possibly a higher current hitting the dogs.

Electric wire, however, can be added to a chain link fence with the use of chain link insulators. These insulators will keep the wire from making contact with the grounded chain link fence.
