Q: Used 56502A on my covered porch. Do I need to strip the old degraded coat off to apply a new coat. The directions are super vague. Also, could you improve the labelling on the can to make it easier to find what I need the first time?
3 years agoOriginally posted on olympicstains.com
- A: Hello, I would recommend doing a water test before applying any stain on top. Drop some water on the porch and see if it absorbs into the wood. If it does, then you can apply another coat. If it sits on top, then the deck is not ready for a new coat yet. I would still recommend using a deck cleaner and sanding before applying a new coat.2 years ago
Q: I have been using 57503A but store is carrying 56503A. Didn't notice the difference until I had started to clean the sprayer. 57503A oil base, 56503A water base. The cans are similar. I sprayed 700 sq. ft of water base stain over oil base. Is that ok?

Q: Can I put the new low VOC Maximum toner transparent over the old oil based Maximum toner (same color)? The previous application was made 6 years ago but since it is on a fence, water still beads in most places. Or do I need another oil-based stain?
