We applied Thompson’s Water Seal Advanced to our 1000 sq foot deck, built of Micro Pro Sienna treated wood , built in 2018. First we swept, vacuumed, spot sanded, carefully washed board by board with the hose and let dry our lovely blonde deck. To our horror and extreme disappointment, the Thompson’s Water Seal Advanced Clear/Transparent has rendered our deck a horrible orange colour! Not at all what we expected and desire. Not only that- our deck is now extremely slippery! Furniture and shoes are sliding around on it . It is not safe. We are devastated. How do we ever get our beautiful light coloured, non slippery deck back?
No, I do not recommend this product.

Since each type of wood can take the product differently, we do recommend a test area first to ensure you like the results. If the surface is slippery, then not all the product was able to absorb and is sitting on top. You would need to take a solvent based degreaser and scrub down the surface to remove what did not penetrate. Prep wood 1st, Bad reviews are mostly user error

Looks like most negative reviews are from people not prepping properly or even at all before using this, there's instructions on how to prep wood BEFORE applying the sealer for a reason, if you do the prep/follow directions this sealer is fantastic, yall need to stop putting it on over chipped paint then acting like its the products fault.
