Q: I want to put on a post but have no clue what type of pole to use. Please help.
a year ago- A: Thank you for your question. The North States 6-Foot Birdfeeder Pole Set (model 1756) is designed specifically for mounting our Village Collection feeders.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Got the general store store hopper for mothers day. The only problem I see is that the birds are having problems with where to stand to feed. The platform is rather small. Any suggestions?
3 years ago- A: Thank you for your inquiry. Typically birds do not have a difficult time standing and feeding from the feeding tray of the feeder. A larger base would not be protected by the rooftop and the seed would be overly exposed to rain. It may be that they may be hesitant to use a new feeder, which is common and does take some time. Here are some tips to assist with introducing a new feeder: 1. Spread a little seed on the ground beneath the feeder as well as on top of the feeder, if able. Birds find food by sight, so spreading some food might aid birds in finding your feeder. 2. If it's a new type of feeder for your birds, hang it in a spot where you've had a feeder before. Birds aren't too dissimilar from us: sometimes it takes a while to get used to new things. 3. Place feeders within 15 feet or so of a place that birds can quickly fly to when escaping other flying predators, like hawks. 4. Place feeders in a safe place, not right above places where ground predators, like cats, might hide. 5. Add a nearby birdbath to help birds notice and visit a new feeder. A bath with moving water will be the most effective at catching birds’ attention. 6. Use quality food. A new feeder filled with seed that is old and stale, will not attract birds. With birds, it's all about energy in and energy out. A low-quality seed that requires more energy to find and eat is just not worth the bird’s efforts. 7. Be patient. It takes time for birds to become accustomed to a new feeder and to visit it regularly. Patience is essential when using a new bird feeder, but by taking proper steps to make the feeder attractive to the birds, you will soon be refilling it frequently.3 years agoHelpful?
Q: How do I open to clean inside of feeder?
5 years ago- A: Thank you for reaching out to us. The base on the Village Collection feeders is removable. The best way to do this is to lay it on it's side and note where the colored tabs are on the bottom side of the feeder. Then, use the palm of your hand to strike the base so that tabs slip to the opposite side of the slot, allowing the base to be removed. Alternatively, an easier way to clean the feeder would be to remove the chimney from the top of the feeder and insert a garden hose through the opening.5 years agoHelpful?
