Q: Does No/No Red Cardinal mean cardinals can't access this even though they are shown in the picture? Or does Red Cardinal mean the color. If cardinals can access, maybe the name should be changed. It sounds like cardinals are prohibited somehow from use.

Q: Does this have opening to let the seed through other than through the mesh? Can you use other seed in it? Does it have drain holes in the tray area to let rain water out?

I bought this birdfeeder about a month ago to replace a feeder from which the squirrels were able to feed. This feeder prohibit squirrels feeding with a large baffle at the top. The large tray around the bottom of the feeder is nice for the birds to be able to sit to eat. This feeder attracts a wide range of wild birds and is attractive.

For the Birds, But!

Everything about the design & quality of this feeder is excellent except the mesh is too tight & birds can't get the seeds out! I use only sunflower seeds so perhaps regular round seed might work fine but I suspect they would pour through and not work either.

Really great feeder. All species seem to like it. A little small for Jays, but they still try with humorous results. Squirrel's will try to chew through mesh if they can get to it. A little grease on the Shepards Hook gives them fits.

Really nice feeder. Most birds love it. Blue Jays and squirrels go to it but just can't sit there and gorge themselves. After 2 weeks, Cardinals do not come to it.
