Great Quality Can - After Some Modifications
3 years ago
Love the Midwest cans. When it arrived, I immediately removed the internal diffuser, replaced the spout with an EZ Flow and added a vent. Now it may not make the People's Republic of California happy, but it will work just fine in Ohio.

don't buy

The nozzle on this can is drip free. The problem is this can is difficult to use. It is spring loaded which is difficult to open. Also the cap at times is difficult to open. I had to use a funnel which was a bit messy

Awful spout.
Comes with an awful snti-spill spout, making it impossible to use for filling kerosine heaters. I had to install a normal spout anbd put in a vent cap.

Nice but has drawback
Pros - Sturdy Can, I like the fact that there are two handles. Makes it easier to pour.
Cons: Cannot use my cheapo battery powered liquid transfer siphon because the morons who designed this added an inner sleeve ( a built in filter ) that prevents the business end of the siphon pump from being inserted. Go on U-tube to learn how to remove these. The whole point of the siphon pump was so I didn't have to break my back lifting 5gals into my kerosene heater tank..
Yes, I recommend this product.

FMDs, or Flame Mitigation Devices, are specialized safety components required in all portable fuel containers sold in the United States. Their primary function is to prevent an external flame from entering the container and igniting the fuel vapors inside, which could otherwise cause a flashback explosion.
The requirement for FMDs comes from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Final Rule (16 CFR Part 1461), which took effect in July 2023. This rule mandates that all gas cans and similar portable fuel containers must be equipped with an FMD that passes standardized safety testing.
Key technical points:
• Design: FMDs are typically a mesh or flame arrestor integrated into the spout or opening of the container.
• Function: They dissipate heat and quench the flame front, preventing ignition from traveling into the container.
• Testing Standards: The CPSC rule references ASTM standards for flame arrestor performance, ensuring all devices meet the same minimum level of protection.
In short, FMDs are federally mandated safety features designed to significantly reduce the risk of fire hazards, and every compliant gas can must include them to be legally sold in the U.S.
