Apparently, the EPA now requires all diesel and gas cans be impossible to use, with spouts that won't pour, or spill all over. This spout kit, while expensive for what it is, is a solution to that problem. Drill a 1/2" vent hole, put in the new vent hole cover, replace the "spill proof" spout with one of these spouts, and you have a can that you can actually use. Otherwise, don't even bother to buy a gas can - just get a bucket and a funnel.

It was fairly simple to install. Use a uni-bit or paddle bit to drill the 1/2" hole, NOT a standard drill bit. I can actually fill up my mowers very quickly now without all the EPA junk.. In fact, I spill less fuel using this kit as suppose to the EPA spouts. I can easily fill up my riding mower in mere seconds compared to the two minutes plus with the the original spout. The only draw back to this design was the vent cap wouldn't stay fully seated at first and the lanyard that held the cap to the vent broke in only a few minutes after installation. I might try to installed a de-cored valve steam in its place when I get the chance to.
