Q: Will a hose go down inside to pump out instead of pouring.

  • A: Hi Larry, Sku# 3950880 should contain a flame mitigation devise, this devise is a white tube that is placed in the opening of the Diesel can and would prevent any foreign objects from being placed inside the can.

Q: I need to remove the filter insert in the mid west diesel fuel can, as I’m going to be using a siphon hose.  How is this done?

1 Answer
  • A: I used a large pair of needle nose pliers, forced one side between the filter and can neck, then got violent and yanked it out.  I can’t figure out the logic of catching any debris and then pouring it back out into whatever you are fueling.  This is a good can once you remove the filter, add a vent cap, and get an old fashioned pour spout.

Q: Please send me the video for the Diesel Can. I am not sure I understand how the spout works

1 Answer
  • A: The manufacturer does not have a specific video on just the diesel container, but they have a helpful video that demonstrates how to operate the spout that comes standard on all containers. You can find this video on http://www.midwestcan.com/faq.html

Q: how does the spout work

  • Midwest Can Support
A: First, please make sure your spout is installed and screwed onto your container properly to prevent leaking. While the container is on the ground click in the red safety lock located on your spout. This will un-lock your spout for use. Pick up your container and place the tip of the spout inside your fuel tank. Using the black notch on the spout, rest notch on tank lip, push downward to retract spout. This will start the flow. Please remember you need to click in red safety lock before each use. For spout instructions and new FMD Safety Video please visit http://www.midwestcan.com/faq.html

Best made can in the market!

Best can you can buy, made in USA! YOU MUST CHANGE NOZZLE AND DRILL NEW VENT! (These are available everywhere and this fact doesn't change for any brand.) Could not be happier with their quality. Upon upgrading, they pour flawlessly without leaking. Thickness makes them very safe and durable. Clearly labeled capacity line for 5 gallons. 2 handles for ergonomics and stability.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Horrible purchase!

Whoever designed this container is an idiot! It has “Diesel” molded right on its side but it diesel nozzle at the pump does NOT fit in the opening!!! Filling it is an absolute pain. I ended up splattering fuel on my pantleg and boots and over the outside of the container. Do NOT purchase this for diesel fuel!!!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.
