- A: Hi Kevin, this heater uses air (oxygen) from the area in which it is used. It produces carbon monoxide. Adequate combustion and ventilation air must be provided. Always provide a fresh air opening in the heated space of at least three square feet (2,800 sq. cm) for each 100,000 BTU/hour of heater output. If your garage is not ventilated in another manner, the garage door should be open far enough to meet the three square feet minimum. Stay Warm!2 years agoHelpful?
