Marathon Electric Air Compressor Motor, 6 HP is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect replacement for old 5hp 2-stage compressor Replaced a 5 hp motor on my Sanborn 2 stage compressor with this unit about a month ago. Runs cool and is a bit quieter than the old one. A couple small issues for my replacement were that the shaft was a little bit shorter than original and mounting flange was slightly different. A quick fab job on an adapter plate to move the motor for pulley alignment and I was back in business. Just pay attention to the direction your compressor pump has to spin. Wire up motor and test direction before hooking belt up. I had to reverse the direction of the motor but no big deal. Hopefully it will last half as long as the original. Heat is the biggest enemy so blow out with compressed air to keep dust out. And if you can keep compressor out of the dust it will last much longer

what size braker in the electric box do you use

Asked by: webebse
The GEX36531 6 hp motor has full load amps of 23 Amps. A lot has to do with how far from panel is the wire being run to the outlet. 12 gauge wire is good for 20 amps. This motor pulls 23 amps, so best bet is to use 10 gauge wire with a 2 pole 30 amp breaker. 10 gauge wire with a 2 pole 30 amp breaker will give you plenty of room for inrush current on start up.

Will this replace the motor on a Ingersoll Rand 80 (sku# 349612999)

Asked by: Sauceybrewer
This motor has a 5/8 shaft on a 56 frame. If the Ingersoll Rand motor has the same specs, this could replace it.
