The Marathon Motors 2 HP Electric Air Compressor Motor is made to get the job done right. This air compressor motor can be used for commercial and residential air compressors, fans, dairy and poultry equipment and table saws. The capacitor start/capacitor run design of the air compressor motor reduces the amperage needed. The electric air compressor motor has manual reset thermal protection and a rigid base. Made with carbon steel, this compressor motor is designed for durability and strength.

Rotation

The web site should specify that the "clockwise" rotation is from the motor side. From the shaft side, where most drive products are specified from, the rotation is counter-clockwise and the rotation is not reversible. Therefore, this motor cannot be used on many table saws as stated on the web site as a suitable use for this motor. Also, the packaging could have been better. The sheet metal legs were bent during shipment. Not a big deal to fix, but could have been avoided with proper packaging. I had to return the motor, due to the fixed rotation direction. Other than these issues, it seemed like a quality product.

Not so much a review of the motor but for TSC; as RLWPE mentioned, the rotation is actually CCW when looking directly at the shaft, instead of CW as stated online, and on the store shelf. I bought this motor to replace a table saw motor, and I can't imagine a saw configuration that would use this non-reversible motor, as the product description suggests. This reflects quality; a simple decal on the motor indicating shaft rotation and better attention to product detail would have saved half of my time today.
