Q: Can Metallica be added to this product?
a month ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor- Based on the technical data and product instructions for Majic 1 qt. Clear Coat Lacquer (8-2999), it is not recommended to mix metallic pigments directly into this clear coat.a month agoHelpful?
Q: Can this clear paint be applied directly to bare metal?
2 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor- Yes, Majic Clear Coat High Gloss Lacquer can be applied directly over Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamel, provided the enamel is fully cured, typically for at least 7 to 14 days. It is not for direct application over bare metal, primer, or non-Majic paints, as the strong lacquer solvents can cause wrinkling if the base is not fully cured.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: Mix ratio of reducer to be sprayable
5 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor! Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Primers and Enamels are high solids alkyds that will most often require reduction for spraying. We recommend and 8:1 reduction with Majic Reducer, #8-0750 (8 parts Majict T&I Primer or Finish Enamel). This ratio is a “plus or minus” ratio based on your particular spray equipment, atmospheric conditions at the time of application, and of course, your own personal preferences. Typically gravity fed, and HVLP spray guns may require a greater ratio. Majic Clear Coat is packaged @ spray consistency and reduction is not required, nor recommended. The final coat of Majic Tractor & Implement Enamel must be allowed to cure for 14 days prior to application of Clear Coat, and please read and follow application directions carefully with regard to the recommended applied thickness of the coating, and allowable recoat times.5 months agoHelpful?

Q: Do you need to wait 14 days to apply this clear coat even if Majik hardener is used in the Majik enamel paint? I am thinking hardener would speed up the whole process otherwise why even buy hardener?

Q: We have a full size caboose and we can't spray, can this product be brushed or rolled on ?
a year ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor! Lacquer can either be sprayed onto a surface (using pretty much any type of air equipment), or can be applied with a brush.a year agoHelpful?
Q: Do I need a catalyst with this clear
a year ago1 Answer
- A: Majic Clear Coat High Gloss Lacquer is a ready-to-spray, hard-drying coating that provides a deep gloss to a Majic Tractor & Implement finish, plus provides greater UV resistance than the enamel alone. Majic Clear Coat contains hot solvents that can react with some oil/alkyd coatings causing wrinkling, or lifting. When used with Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamels, it is recommended to allow the final coat of enamel to cure for 2 weeks prior to the application of Clear Coat. Majic Clear Coat is ready-to-spray, and does not require reduction – the use of a catalyst hardener is not recommended with Majic Clear Coat. Majic Clear Coat is designed for use in conjunction with Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamels, and should not be used with other types, or brands, of finishes without testing for compatibility and chemical resistancea year agoHelpful?
Q: Does the Tractor, Truck & Implement paint need to be sanded for adhesion of Clear Coating? If sanded, is 10-14 more days (to out gas solvents) required?
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: The surface prep instructions are as follows: Surface must be clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, oily residue, and grease. Gloss TT&I should be lightly sanded with 400 grit paper or equivalent Scotch Brite Pad. Remove sanding dust by wiping surface with a tack rag or damp cloth. Allow final coat of Majic TT&I to cure for 14 days before applying Majic Clear Coat. Not waiting the full cure time of the enamel may cause lifting and wrinkling of the finish coat. No need to allow extra time after sanding. The product can be applied to the clean surface.2 years agoHelpful?

Used a cheap spray gun
I’m a novice at painting with a paint gun. However I used the cheap harbor freight paint gun $8.99 on sale. Anyhow it worked well. The clear coat takes a couple of days to truly harden. Finished product is better than expected.

Bad mixture.

I had good luck with this product previously. Bought another quart and all it wanted to do was cobweb.
Bought a second quart from a different store with a different batch number.
Stuff is unusable. I will not purchase again.

xcellent clear coat!

Takes a good 24 hours to dry to-the-touch, but it's worth the wait. This clear coat has a super glossy finish that is really beautiful. Excellent clear coat!
