Q: If the air conditioner measures a width of 23", why do I need a minimum of 27" wide window opening!?! My window is 26.5 inches wide. Can I make it fit?

- A: Hello, PaulaMcL. The reason you need a minimum width of 27" for the 14,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1521ERSM1, is because, like any other window air conditioner, it comes with a left and right panel guide (aka. accordion panels) that attach to the sides of the unit so you can close any openings in the window after installing the air conditioner. The air conditioner has a width of 23.62", which means that for a window with a minimum requirement of 27", you have 1.69" on either side of the air conditioner to work with for installation and the left and right guide panels. - A: The LG 14,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner (LW1521ERSM1) is designed for installation in standard double hung windows with actual opening widths from 27 in. to 39 in. The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 16" fro the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. - A: The LG 14,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1521ERSM1 is a Window Air Conditioner, and as such, a single-hung or double-hung window is required for proper installation. Non-window installations, including using sleeves or wall openings, and other installation methods are not recommended...^Ivan2 years ago

Ordered 15000 BTU unit but received 14000 BTU unit in which I couldn’t use because it was a wall mount installation.

Keeps our dining room nice and cool

So far I have loved this LG Smart window air conditioner! We set it up in our dining room so we could finally enjoy some cool air while we eat in a hot summer day (I love having coffee for breakfast!). It’s cool the room within an hour and stays cool, also the remote comes in handy so you don’t have to constantly get up to change the speed, temp or setting. It is big so you definitely want two people to set it up on the window so you won’t end up hurting yourself. I purchased a plexiglass and cut it to size to place it on top of the ac because our window slides left to right instead of up and down. It’s nice that unlike the portable acs that we have in the other rooms, this window ac doesn’t take up much space so I didn’t have to move my dining table too much!
About 260 Sq. Ft. Open area including a section of our kitchen

Ordered a 15,000 BTU air conditioner. Receipt indicates a 15,000 BTU AC. But was given a 14,000 BTU at pick up with no comment or explanation given.
BTU indicated upper right corner of box.
