Q: is this model NRTL rated, I.E. UL, SA listed, etc?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hello, thank you for reaching out to us. You’re asking whether the LW8023HR window air conditioner is NRTL‑rated (UL, CSA, etc.), and we understand how important verified safety certification is when choosing a unit for your home. Before checking any markings, we always suggest confirming the electrical setup matches the model’s requirements: • Use a 115V / 60 Hz grounded outlet, as listed for this unit. For this model: • LG window air conditioners sold in the U.S. are designed to meet applicable U.S. safety and performance standards. • The specific certification mark—such as UL, ETL, or CSA—will be printed directly on the rating label on the unit or on the product packaging, which is the most accurate way to verify the exact listing for your individual unit. You can review the model details here: • https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw8023hr-window-air-conditioner If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑Rich

Q: Is this a 110/120 unit or 230/240?

  • A: Hi Texsteven, we’re glad to clarify this for you. The LG LW8023HR operates on a 115V / 60Hz electrical supply, which means it’s designed for a standard 110/120V household outlet. No 230/240V connection is required. You can review the full electrical specs here: https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw8023hr-window-air-conditioner If you’d like us to review your setup or installation needs, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. – LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: Is the heating portion similar to an air source heat pump or is it just resistance wiring? Also, does the compressor have variable speed for more efficient operation during colder weather and what outside temperature does this become inefficient?

Anonymous8 months ago

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hi George, Thank you for reaching out. The LG 7,600 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating (Model LW8023HR) provides cooling with a standard compressor and uses electric resistance coils for heating. It does not operate as a heat pump, and the compressor is fixed‑speed, so heating efficiency does not vary with colder outdoor temperatures. You can view the official specs and manual here: https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw8023hr-window-air-conditioner For any further assistance, feel free to DM us at @LGUSSupport. Q: Can the outside of the unit be covered while the heater is running

Originally posted on lg.com

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for reaching out, Dirts. We understand your concern about protecting the unit, especially during colder months. However, proper ventilation is critical for safe and efficient operation. The outdoor portion of the unit must remain unobstructed to allow for adequate air exchange and heat dissipation. If you're looking to shield the unit from weather when it's not in use, you may use a breathable cover designed for window air conditioners—but only when the unit is turned off. For heating or cooling operation, the exterior must remain fully exposed. For more details, please refer to the owner's manual and safety guidelines for your model: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-LW8023HR.AT1AUSL Feel free to DM us at @LGUSSupport if you need further assistance. ^Rich

Q: I've just purchased this unit to replace the exact same unit I've had for many years. I've always preferred to draw in exterior air, but this new unit doesn't seem to have a vent lever to choose that option. Where is it located??

We totally understand that there might be some questions about the features, and we're here to help you every step of the way! Q: The "clean filter" light came on. I removed filter, cleaned it and put it back in. How do I get the light to go off?

Originally posted on lg.com

1 Answer
  • A: As per the Clean Filter instructions on bullet 6 on page 17 in your owner's manual for the LG 7,600 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Cooling & Heating, Model # LW8023HR: Clean Filter The Clean Filter LED lights up to notify you that the filter needs to be cleaned. After cleaning the filter, press Temp ▼and ▲ together on the control panel to turn off the Clean Filter light. NOTE • The filter reset must be done using the control panel, not the remote control. • This feature is a reminder to clean the air filter for more efficient operation. The LED light turns on after 250 hours of operation...^Ivan.

Q: Should the vent be opened or closed?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hi there. The LG window A/C unit LW8023HR vent should be closed during normal cooling to maintain maximum efficiency. Opening the vent allows fresh outdoor air in, which can reduce cooling performance. Use the open setting only when you want to ventilate the room. For everyday use, keeping it closed gives you the best comfort and energy savings. For more questions, private message us on social media @LGUSSupport. We're just a DM away! ^David
