Q: Is this brooder box large enough to use until my chicks can go into their outdoor coop? I have 6 chicks.

1 Answer
  • A: This brooder box will likely be too small to house 6 standard chicks until they are ready for their outdoor coop at 6 weeks old. While suitable for the first couple of weeks, standard chicks grow rapidly and typically require significantly more space as they approach moving age

Q: Can you put shavings in the box with a floor heat plate?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, you can use wood shavings in a brooder box with a floor-level heat plate, but you must follow safety Unlike traditional heat lamps, heat plates operate at lower, safer temperatures and are generally not a fire hazard with shavings. Ensure the plate is adjusted so its underside barely touches the chicks' backs to mimic a mother hen's warmth.

Overall Disappointed

Assembly is simple, and the box is sturdy enough, but it’s only good until the chicks are 2-3 weeks old. Then they can jump/fly out of the box. Was hoping it would last a little longer. Storage and clean-up should be easy, thank goodness.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not cut straight creating Huge gap.

I really loved this item until I put it together. It is not cut straight so there is a gap on one side no matter what. All of my micro chickens escaped the gap and died from being cold. I would not recommend unless birds are weeks old, which defeats the purpose. High price and horrible quality.

A hunk of junk. Trash. Waste of Money.

Impossible to over-emphasize how much of a hunk of junk this box is. It does not hold together, there are gaps between the floor panel and the wall, and the holes are not cut in the correct place for it to hold itself together via tension. It's not even built correctly for gravity to hold it into place, as the J-hooks cut into the sides face up instead of down. Save your money, this is absolutely trash.

No, I do not recommend this product.
