Our best selling Brinsea Ecoglow Safety 600 Chick Brooder has been redesigned to be even safer, more economical and easier to clean. The new brooder for chicks is ideal to raise up to 20 newly hatched chicks or ducklings (10 to 12 older chicks depending on age and size) and is suitable for any waterfowl or game-bird chicks and for classroom hatches. This new baby chick brooder uses a metal warming plate to even out hot and cold spots which occur with plastic heat plates and to improve heat radiation. The new flared skirt design of the chick brooder heather retains more heat further reducing energy use.

For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

  • Baby chick brooder is economical to run; uses only 12 watts from a mains transformer supplied; a much safer option than mains voltage
  • Durable, easy to clean construction
  • No disturbing light; chicks are adjusted to a natural day/night cycle which improves weight gain and feather growth
  • Indicator light confirms the brooder for chicks is connected
  • Hygienic ABS plastics construction for easy cleaning
  • This product is for indoor use only and the room temperature should not drop below 50°F (10°C)
  • Chick brooder heater uses a metal warming plate to even out hot and cold spots
  • Features a generous 10 feet power lead
  • 4 adjustable legs to adjust the height according to the size of the chicks (one end of the panel may be set lower than the other)
  • Suitable for up to 20 newly hatched chicks
  • For brooding larger numbers of chicks see the Ecoglow Safety 1200 or 2000
  • Measures 12 in. long x 8 in. wide x 9 in. high
  • Some precautions need to be taken depending on the ambient temperature in the room, and on the age and number of chicks; room temperature should not drop below 50°F (10°C)
  • It is better to have the brooder on a lower height setting, if in doubt; The chicks will move away from the EcoGlow heating plate if they are too warm
  • If brooding very young quail or very small numbers of any small birds, it is a good idea to confine them in a cardboard box at least twice the size of the EcoGlow chick warmer
  • In an extreme case, one end of the heating plate may be set lower than the other; This gives very small birds the option to touch the warm under surface of the chick brooder heat plate or adjust their position for maximum comfort
  • Measuring the temperature with a thermometer is of little value; Always watch the behavior of the birds, they will naturally huddle together if they are cool

Works as intended! Pleased!

Optimal and even heat! Chicks love it and I LOVE how safe it is. Adjusts as directly, easy set up for any level of skill, and amazingly safe heat for the new or old that need it! Perfect size for the amount I had. 10 Brahma chicks. I believe at least 15-20 of another smaller breed could stay under twice as long with no issues. Wish there was a protective covering for the lead out and wire, but may have to Macguyver it or something. Lol

Meh

I was excited to try this brooder heater. I really like the way it can be raised and lowered in very small increments. However, this thing gets HOT HOT HOT. There is no way to adjust the temperature output, or keep chicks from touching the very hot plate. There’s no way that 20 chicks could use this heater at one time. I have ten under it, and they are very crowded. My Bantam chicks that are a week old today have already outgrown this heater. Bummer!

Works fine, but they poop all over the top!

It didn't take long for the chicks to like using the heat shield for comfort. It seems like it needs to be pretty close to them at first at lease, like the picture. My only disappointments are that the chicks quickly learn that they can fly up on top and poop all over it, which quickly dries which is difficult to clean, and it takes a lot of space out of their smallish first quarters. I like everything about a heat lamp better except for the safety factor.

Excellent

We are very excited about the low energy requirements of these units. When brooding large amounts of birds, we have had issues in the past with heat lamps being too hot for some and too cold for others. These eliminate that problem by allowing the chicks to move in and out from underneath them as if they were their mother.

Worked as described. Keeps them warm, easy to adjust, and seems very safe so far. Does not get hot enough to seem dangerous, but keeps a bunch of little chicks warm.
