Needed product with poor design and over-priced

I bought these boots about a month ago. While I appreciate them, the ice packs don't stay in place so that within the two hours that they stay cold, they slip and my horse steps on them, ripping them open. For $20/ pack, it gets expensive fast. The boots could be better designed. I eventually bought ice packs from NexCare and they work just as well, and cost about $6/pack.

No, I do not recommend this product.

LIFESAVER

I absolutely love these boots for icing a horse during a laminitis episode. They could be used really for icing any type of injury from the fetlock down but the reason for this purchase was to support a horse enduring a laminitic episode. The ice packs last 4 hours before needing to be swapped. The design of the boot allows for the boots to be left on without surveillance or needing to be held which is a real-time saver for any barn professional or horse owner. I would recommend purchasing an extra set of ice packs if your horse needs 24/7 icing - that way while one set of ice packs are freezing the other can be in the boot, providing icing support for the horse. The boots are a little tricky to put on the first time but once you go through the steps once, it is easy. The boot may also seem to be a little big if you try the boot on without the ice packs but once the packs are in, the boot will fit perfectly. The ice packs velcro to the boot itself which helps when putting the boot on, keeping everything securely in place. Super durable - have not washed yet but not concerned that this will affect the quality of the boot.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Wish it was easier

I watched the videos and compared to other options, but I should have known nothing is as easy as made out to be. It’s a 5 star concept with 2 star execution. The ice packs fall off as I attempt to put it on - too heavy for the hook strips to hold. So I have to put her foot on it, madly try to add the ice, pull it all together before she lifts her leg and pull it all together. Of course, all the hook covered tabs are sticking everywhere by now and have to be pulled off each other. All this is being done with my head pointed down as I lean into a 1 ton mare who isn’t that thrilled with it. Phew, once I get it all pulled together, it goes to 4 stars. Not as good as crushed ice in the bags they sell, but less mess and the seams pop open easily on the bags. Lot’s of money, should work better, and maybe others are younger and have larger hands and will love it. I can only sort of like. Recommend is maybe, not so much yes. It depends...

Yes, I recommend this product.
