alas, they were awful

My horse had laminitis, and icing his hooves in buckets of water was difficult in the winter. I had such high hopes for these! But there were problems: . Really hard to put on. The ice packs have a little velcro to stick them to the inner layer of the boot; the layers of the boots also have velcro. In practice, the ice packs fall out while I tried to get the boot in place, and the velcro stuck to itself in various directions, making the whole thing rather difficult. Add a horse in pain and this was no fun. . The ice packs don't actually even go down to the hoof on my horse. The bottom of the boot holds heat in, quite the opposite of what we wanted. . Then my horse stepped on one of the ice packs and it broke open. Then that happened again. Both times within about two weeks of use. UGH. I ended up returning these and using variously sized- and shaped ice packs with velcro. Much easier to put on and better placement possible.

No, I do not recommend this product.

excellent

I purchased this for my horse that foundered as he would not keep his foot consistently in an ice bath. This product has made icing him so much easier and I don't have to ask people to babysit him in an ice bucket when I can't be there. We've left it in place for up to an hour. He's been very good about wearing it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

good for icing hoof

This boot is good to ice the hoof wall. It is large however so can be cumbersome to use.

Yes, I recommend this product.

LIFE SAVER!

I've used these boots religiously twice per day for the past 4 months and they have been a life saver!! After getting special shoes & pads on to help with laminitis, I was no longer able to use ice water to treat my horse's feet (as he couldn't get his feet wet anymore). I gave the big black boots a try and they have worked like a charm. Easy to use and EXTREMELY durable (already used over 240 times and are still going strong..). I've had to replace the ice packs a number of times already, but that's to be expected with so much use (and is still probably cheaper than buying bags of ice every day). I would highly recommend these to anyone who has a horse with sore feet!

Yes, I recommend this product.
