Item Information

This Davis Horse Boot ensures durability due to the triple-layered, non-slip bottom. Made of a tough polyvinyl compound, durable enough, even for use on a shod horse. Each boot includes the Davis exclusive therapeutic pad that guarantees the medication to have longer contact time. Use the Davis Horse Boot on any hoof where treatment or protection is needed. Use for soaking, poulticing and conditioning of the hoof. Use for direct application of medicine to treat abscesses, thrush, puncture wounds and other foot or hoof conditions. Use to keep the hoof clean and dry. Using the boot will also relieve pressure when signs of bruising, corns or cankers appear. The Davis Horse Boot guarantees consistent quality in every boot as they are American Made. The upper part of the boot is soft and pliable making it easy to put on and take off. The boot stays securely in place with a strong, adjustable nylon strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horse boot My horse had stepped on a nail and I got the boot to keep mud and dirt out while it healed. It was easy enough to put on and she kept it on. Nice heavy boot so it is still as good as new for the next time one of the girls hurts herself

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Save a Hoof I bought a boot on the advice of my vet to treat a deeply imbedded abcess. I used a solution of ebsom salt and iodine for soaking. I was able to turn her loose in the field with the other horses so she did not have to stand in the barn alone and holler all evening. The boot stayed on well but my only problem was keeping it latched. A buckle or snap would make things alot easier. It did help her heal and the cost was reasonable for the product. I can reuse it many times so that is a plus also. The only reason a 4 instead of 5 is the way it is made to close.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Opening not big enough I was not able to use this even though I really needed a way to soak my horse's hoof for an abscess (He won't put his foot in a bucket. Thoroughbreds, amiright?). The bottom of the boot seems to have been large enough to put my horse's hoof into it, BUT even after completely unfastening the strap, the top of the boot was not. Well, it may have been large enough but the material was so stiff that I doubted it would go over the hoof - and even if it did, it would have required two hands to hold it open and put on the hoof. As you might expect, I returned it to the store. Something 2 or 3 sizes bigger might have worked but they didn't have any in stock and I already found a workaround (side note: get Animalintex pads really soaking wet, apply to hoof, wrap with vetrap, and cover with crosshatched duck tape. Abscess began draining in 24 hours).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't quit work how I wanted... Purchased to keep an ankle injury dry from the rain and mud and all it actually did was trap water and wet her bandages, worked great the first few times I used it when the sun was out and mud was drying but during wet yucky weather it failed. Would work great to soak a hoof in a solution though!
